Gomba District Hosts Stakeholder Engagements on Critical Road Chokes under UCSATP

Gomba District, through the Office of the Senior Community Development Officer (SCDO), has held key stakeholder engagement meetings with community members regarding urgent road choke interventions under the Uganda Climate Smart Agriculture Transformation Project (UCSATP).

The meetings aimed to raise community awareness, foster ownership, and gather local input for the rehabilitation of six critical road sections essential for agricultural productivity and market access along the 20km road.

The first engagement was held in Kifampa Subcounty, focusing on the Kawuula–Kijjojo Maddu road section (1km). This choke has long affected transport for farmers and traders, particularly during the rainy seasons.

The second meeting addressed the Bweza–Kamusenene–Butambazi–Ntalagi road section (7.5km), a key route for several farming communities relying on efficient transportation for their produce and daily mobility.

During the meetings, the SCDO emphasized the importance of community participation and sustainability of infrastructure investments. The UCSATP interventions are designed to support climate-resilient agricultural transformation, with infrastructure improvements playing a central role.

Local leaders, farmers, youth, and women groups actively participated, expressing appreciation for the government's commitment to addressing rural infrastructure bottlenecks.

The Gomba District leadership continues to prioritize collaborative development approaches that empower communities while strengthening service delivery. The UCSATP project is being implemented with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) and development partners.
